Surface-mount technology (SMT) is a method for producing electronic circuits in which the components are mounted or placed directly onto the surface of a printed circuit board (PCB). SMT components are much smaller than through-hole components, allowing for higher component density and reduced circuit board size. SMT components are soldered to the PCB using a process called surface-mount soldering, which is a type of reflow soldering. This process uses a combination of heat and flux to melt the solder and create a strong electrical connection between the component and the PCB.
