Cat 6 is a type of Ethernet cable used for networking. It is the sixth generation of twisted pair Ethernet cables and is capable of transmitting data at speeds up to 10 Gbps over a distance of 100 meters. Cat 6 cables are thicker than Cat 5 cables and feature four twisted pairs of copper wire. The additional shielding and insulation of Cat 6 cables helps to reduce crosstalk and noise, making them ideal for high-speed applications such as Gigabit Ethernet. Cat 6 cables are also backward compatible with Cat 5 and Cat 5e cables.
