Great for a FreeNAS build with a legacy logic board

My Haswell era logic board, which is used for a FreeNAS build, has a flaky on-board Realtek LAN chip. The board's two PCI-e slots are filled with SATA controller cards, leaving only two regular PCI slots free. I bought this Intel PCI network adapter to fix the networking problems I've been having. FreeNAS dashboard reports 95MiB/sec, which is great, and the same as the performance of the Intel PCI-e cards on another system I have. I've transferred about a terabyte of data over it so far without any problems.

Dated but still quite usable NIC

Bought this card 10yrs ago, but never used it as I later bought the “CT” version and installed using a spare PCI-e expansion connector in my old Win 7 eMachine desktop. Well, I now need two PCI-e slots for video and eSATA cards, and having a spare PCI slot available, I dropped in the PRO/1000 GT card...after booting up, Windows immediately recognized the device, automatically provided the driver and 30sec later was on-line. Did an Ookla SpeedTest, and got nearly 500Mbts/sec download, identical to the CT version, so all is well. As other customers have noted, this device has only “in-box” support now, so the only drivers available are assigned by Windows -and they are over 10 yrs old - as this is a legacy NIC. Yes, very much an old-school Ethernet adapter, but it delivers the goods, so who’s complaining.

This worked perfect for my Windows 10 PC

This worked perfect for my Windows 10 PC. I had to return it cause I discovered the issue was not the NIC on my PC but the actual Spectrum ports on my router.

It's not just the ethernet adapter that guarantee speed.

I bought this thinking it will speed up my internet connection. Wrong, it didn't, because there are other factors involve that causes your internet speed. I think in my case, I had an older motherboard running 32bit. The install was easy because Windows already have a driver for it. So, given the situation, my internet speed remains the same.
